Bilingual Pogos gets Nominated for British Educational Award

The friendly Pogos CD-ROM created by Awen have been nominated for one of the main educational resource awards in Britain. Awen, a Welsh software company based in Cardiff designed Pogos to develop ICT, creativity and numeracy skills for children in the Early Years.

The Education Resources Awards, organised by BESA (British Educational Supplier Association) has shortlisted Awen's Pogos in the Early Years Resources and Equipment involving ICT category.

“The CD ROM is a great resource to have in my class in terms of character and computer skills it develops”, said Sioned Jones, from Ysgol y Castell, Caerphilly. She added, “The children love the colourful and comical characters and it is regularly used in our foundation class.”

The disc has six activities designed to entice the user to master different mouse skills that includes click and drag, and accuracy of their mouse control. Pogos is suitable for use in schools, nurseries and at home both in Welsh and English.

“It's fantastic seeing Pogos being nominated for this award” said Aled Richards, Awen Head of Production, “ Pogos was developed for children to learn through play and motivate them to develop computer, literacy and numeracy skills. The unique little characters and the CD ROM have proved to be popular with both teachers and children due to its ease of use, playability and sound educational base.”

The awards ceremony will be held during The Education Show, Birmingham on Friday 27th of March 2009.

Awen would like to thank every school that supported us in our application.
